July Jobs Numbers Show North Carolina Headed in Right Direction
Unemployment rate drops in 90 counties, remains the same in eight
RALEIGH – Americans for Prosperity North Carolina released a statement responding to job figures released Wednesday by the state Department of Commerce showing unemployment dropped in 90 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in July.
Communications Director Joseph Kyzer said it’s becoming clear the state is headed in the right direction:
“North Carolina’s economy is putting tens of thousands of people back to work every month while free-market reforms have helped transform our state into a regional leader in economic and population growth. Our state is outpacing the nation in unemployment with a nine-year low of 4.7% and creating tens of thousands of jobs every month.”
“North Carolinians shouldn’t take this kind of growth for granted as Labor Day approaches and we celebrate gainful employment as a cornerstone of the American dream and real prosperity for millions of people in our country who want financial security for their families. We’re lucky to be leading the United States in major economic measures while taxes have been cut for every income earner.”
“Broad growth is important to improving our economy long-term and unemployment rate decreases in 90 counties are positive signs we’re moving in the right direction after key regulatory reforms and tax cuts. North Carolina has cut unemployment in all 15 metro regions this year, and July showed more promise with twelve metro areas lowering unemployment and three remaining the same.”
“Gov. Pat McCrory and General Assembly leaders deserve immense credit for putting our state on this economic path with bold reforms to our tax codes, tax rates and regulatory systems. Just as good jobs are the key to financial security and prosperity for millions of families in our state, millions of good jobs are the key to our state’s long-term economic security and success.”
Raleigh was named the #2 Hot Spot for Tech Jobs by Forbes in July.
